We drove from Pont Royal to Sens, with lunch beside the Peage road and get to Sens about 4:00, find the Brennus Hotel, right downtown. Old, old buildings. We walk about a bit and find an Italian restuarant. Pat has saltimbocca, and I have veal scallopolini with mushrooms.
The Hôtel de Ville de Sens is a public building, located in Sens, in the French department of Yonne. It is a property of the municipality, protected as historical monuments and open to the public.
It was at the beginning of the 20th century that the Ediles de Sens, radical republicans, decided to build this town hall whose proportions were to rival those of the neighbouring cathedral. In April 1901, the first stone was laid. The result is a building teeming with architectural details to be seen, notably the clock surmounted by a statue of Brennus, leader of the Senons in the 3rd century BC, but also the diabolical monsters at the foot of the spire, the sculpted cornices, the large architectural windows...
