A trip to Chatterbox Falls on the Malibu Princess in August 2001
Day 1: August 26, 2001, Victoria to Maderia
8:00 a.m. start. Drive to Nanaimo and catch the ferry to Horseshoe Bay at 10:30. Then back into the ferry line up to go to Langdale. We ate chicken in hot dog buns while we waited for the ferry. Beautiful weather. 40 minute ride from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. Then a lovely drive up the Coast, passed Gibson's, Sechelt, Half Moon Bay to our campsite at Sunshine Coast Resort just north of Maderia. It is a lovely spot and we are right on the Bay for $28.00. We have pastis and then dinner of bratwurst, spatzel, saurkraut and broccoli, and red wine and cheeses. All this pre-planned carefully by Patrick. After dinner we go to the hot tub and meet and listen to other people, then back to kip and beer before sleep. Lovely campsite, lovely day.
Princess Louisa Inlet on the British Columbia Coast is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) in length and lies at the north east end of Jervis Inlet. It is entered through Malibu Rapids off Queens Reach past Malibu, a former private resort and now youth camp. A portion of the area makes up Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park. James Bruce Falls and Chatterbox Falls are on Loquilts Creek, a large stream that enters the head of the inlet
