the thyme circle has a 7 foot diameter. This photo is from May 30, 2020, with the thyme in bloom. In the late fall of 2021 I added 3 more little thyme plants to the circle. There is a low spot in the circle where a runner from the bamboo seems to have killed the thyme. I cut the runner off and sprayed it with a herbicide. The thyme is slowly growing back over the dead runner. I need to keep adding compost and sand to this spot to rejuvenate the thyme. You can see the bottom of the black bamboo. In the summer of 2020 I removed a lot of dead bamboo canes, leaving just the black ones. There will be more thinning out of this bamboo and snipping off runners to get it totally under control.
