I cut these plants right to the ground in 2014. They grew back into nice mounds and bloomed wonderfully well in 2016. They look far better, and shall be cut back every year. There is a big patch of them in the back garden at the end of the old sidewalk, where it takes a curve to go around the garage. The firethorn, a couple of cedars and a yew tree are behind this patch of germander. Further along towards the woodland area there are some tall bearded iris. The bees and butterflies seem to like this plant.
