Steps 13 to 16 - Edging
I have been concerned about the rock necklace making the pond look unnatural. The examples of some edging from the Japanese garden in the Gorge Park, show the rock edgings with plants growing over them to hide them. Also, the rocks at the Japanese garden in the Gorge Park seem to be shorter than the ones I am using. I can add more gravel to the edges of the pond and plant some more plants that do well crawling over rocks. Along the side of the pond near the deck, is the area that I think looks too un-natural and along with the rebuilding of the waterfall; this area will get some smaller rocks, with a gravelly soil behind them to grow some creeping type of plants that can hang over the sides like the London Pride saxifraga and the Wulfenie that we see growing along part of that side of the pond. The Wulfenie is filling in the space along the deck side very nicely. Perhaps some thyme or creeping campanula would look nice.
God only knows what happened to the moss on the waterfall. I have found rocks in the pond and the Mermaid took a dip too. All due, I am sure to the nasty Pees from next door, that are constantly destroying something in my garden. The Coronavirus in the year 2020 seems to have kept them off my propery since March, I think. Hope it stays that way.
