Step 21 - 24 - New things
There are a number of new things in the water garden area. The big old plum tree was taken down a couple of years ago. We were not eating the fruit and the tree was diseased and full of lichens. So now there is far more light getting into the pond. I would be able to grow water lilies again. The water hawthorn is a long blooming lovely plant though. A few years ago I bought the little fountain pump. It runs on its solar panels. I should probably take it out of the water in the winter. Quite a few years ago, I took out the rhodo that was next to the deck. It did not seem to be doing very well. I filled the space with some rubble and clay, levelled it and topped it off with the cement blocks. It might make a good sitting spot, except there is a path leading under the deck from the platform. I call it the viewing platform. The Japanese lantern has moved from that shady spot and now sits by the stump and closer to the water. There is a new heuchera in an open spot in the platform. Its coming along nicely.
