Step 5 - I added flat stones to create the border and to hold the liner in place. This stone necklace is rather amateur. I hope the edging plants cover the 'necklace', in time. As I write this 8 years later, the necklace is still visible. I need plants that are more vigorous than the ones I have chosen so far. One side is cement blocks that is the walkway. There are cement blocks around the edging rocks on three sides, for firm footing. The fourth side is now nicely overgrown and has no cement blocks. My notes say I have 43 hours spent on the pond. The rock work seems to take more time than the digging. I see from the photo that I also have a few plants put into the area outside the rim of rocks. There is a grass that does well in the soil around the pond. I see that I have a few goldfish added at this point also. The minature cattail is in its pot on the shallow water shelf. This pot is too tall and I should replant this cattail in a lower container.
