July 19, 1998. Masset, Port Clements -
Good shower in our new room. Breakfast and on the bus to Pure Lake - muskeg beds on the way with Margot the Eco Tour Guide. Then to see where the golden spruce was cut down, lunch at Yakoun Inn Pub. Then Port Clements museum - has the stuffed white raven. Back to Masset for a rest before Native dancing and feast. Lots of fish. Many nice comments on my vest that I wore to the feast. Howa is thank you. Pat danced with the natives and I had no camera. Someone gave us a picture of it though. Back to our room by 9:00.
July 20th - Skidegate, Skedans, Gray Beach -
Left the stinking surf Inn, stopping at gift shops along the way and horrid box lunch in light rain at a picnic stop place. We stopped at St. Mary's spring and drank the water to insure we return. Stop at Balance Rock, could see it from the road. Others went down and walked about. Its quite impressive. Then on to the museum at Skidegate. Good museum - totems, birds, weaving (cedar baskets, etc.) Ferry and on to our hotel at Sandspit. Nice room and good dinner on our own. I had the best seafood fettecinine I've ever had. To bed (hot bath first). Good sleep.
