The JAPANESE garden takes a bit of time to keep things trimmed and clean, but is worth the extra time. It ihas its own ambience that is entirely different from the vegetable garden just the other side of the yew and boxwood hedge, or the grass just the other side of the spruce, filbert and bamboo. The mossy rock looks good. The moss has to be encouraged to grow more lush and cover more space to balance the flat spaces with the verticals of the shrubs and to tie the entire area together with the same carpet color and texture.
