Page 6 is a new page for this album of the pond, and tubs water garden features. We see more of the fish from the last year. The frog is another creature I have had in the pond. These frogs have been the imported bull frogs. A quote from the CRD: "The American bullfrog has been billed as a voracious, alien invader that could seriously disrupt the health of the Greater Victoria’s drinking water reservoirs by devouring native fauna. Once adult, bullfrogs can grow to the size of a dinner plate and will eat turtles, baby ducks, woodland birds and garter snakes. Bullfrogs could also infest the environment with new bacteria or parasites." The attempt to keep on top of the eradication of these creatures is costing us thousands of dollars and we seem to be no closer to getting rid of them.
The bird bath needs constant cleaning and refilling but it and the tub on the deck are recognized as drinking and bathing places for the birds - sparrows, finches, humming birds, and others. The irises and the water hawthorn are doing well. The oxygenating plants are keeping the water clean and feeding the fish. The last photo shows a lame adjustment to the outlet of the water for the waterfall. The stones are mismatched. And so, there will be a renovation of the waterfall next summer.
