DAY 9 – October 30, 2005 - Nuremberg, Germany Uniworld version: Depart by coach for a tour of Nuremberg, the former capital of Franconia, and now Bavaria’s second largest city. Dominating the walled historic center is the Imperial Castle. From here, your guide will lead you on a walk through the scenic old town. On your way back to the ship, you will see the site of the post-war Nuremberg Trails and Hitler’s parade grounds. At lunchtime, continue your cruise through the highest point of any commercial waterway in Europe – 1332 feet above sea level. Descend through stair-step locks to the town of Riedenburg for the night.
We did not take the tour as Pat is not well. We go through a couple of 89 feet deep locks and then past the continental divide. We will be going down the steps of the locks from now on.
