DAY 4 – October 25, 2005
Arrive in Rudesheim in the afternoon and enjoy a guided tour of the fascinating Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. The ship docks for the night in Rudesheim. This is a private, extensive collection. We have a guides dressed in period costumes who show us some of the machines playing music. Walk back to the boat and dinner is served. Open seating and casual dress. Delicious food. Wine and drinks in the lounge are a bit expensive, so we are not doing much of that. Too tired to stay up and socialize. The musician, Gito, is very, very good.
This year (2005) Germany has elected its first female Chancellor, Angela Merkel. She finished her term in office in 2021. She was succeeded by Olaf Scholz who has served as the chancellor of Germany since 8 December 2021. He is in office now as the Russian (Putin) war rages in the Ukraine (typed on April 11, 2022).
We had not signed up for the extra activity: Dinner in Rudesheim with Wine and Entertainment – Board the famous “Rudesheimer Mini-Train“ to begin a fun-filled evening in the charming village of Rudesheim, which is located in the heart of the Rhine River Valley’s wine producing region. Enjoy a 4-course, traditional German meal including wine and delightful entertainment indicative of this fairytale town. At the end of your evening, board the waiting Mini-Train once again and return to the ship. Price: $50.00 per person.
